Matt Albiani with Kate Maloney and Shawn Buchanan at Domino book launch Image:Guest of a Guest
I was disappointed tonight when I noticed that Domino's site is down. I loved perusing their videos of some of the homes featured in the magazine. I especially loved the peak inside photographer Matt Albiani's nyc apartment. His guided tour can still be found here. So long Domino...I will miss you!
The people from Coastal Living were here on Tuesday scouting locations for their 2010 Idea House. I am keeping my fingers crossed!!! Our little slice of heaven on the Washington coast is headed for the big time!
> My friend Pam over at Red Ticking posted about some of her favorite bakeries on her blog. It reminded me of one of my favorites in LaLa land: The City Bakery. This cool NY outpost can be found in the charming red building known as the Country Mart (I love this historic building!) Great for a snack after an afternoon of shopping! Love their yummy cookies. Other great finds: Joan's on Third and Figaro Bistrot.
It was a beautiful day here in Seattle yesterday...63 balmy degrees! So far the beginning of 2009 has been COLD and GRAY, so yesterday was a welcome surprise. I immediately thought of this room in Night Owl Paper Goods partner Alan Henderson's Birmingham, Alabama home. I love the clean lines and the natural light! Lovvvve the rug and table! To take a peak of the rest of the house just click here. Enjoy!
One of my most favorite stores in Seattle is Great Stuff, located in the cool up-and-coming Georgetown neighborhood in Seattle. Owner Kirk Albert has currated an amazing collection of eclectic vintage finds from all over the country, ranging from furniture, art, found objects, lighting, and decorative pieces. Everything is a one-of-a-kind piece. The focus is on bold, often whimsical pieces. So if you see something you just can't live without (trust me there will be MANY) , make sure you don't leave it behind. Every piece here is a treasure! The collection spans the 19th century through to the 1960's. Don't miss a trip to Great Stuff.
As I was posting the other day about Michael Smith I started to think about some of my other favorite designers. One of my absolute favorites has always been Grant K. Gibson out of San Francisco. His style is very similar to the style that I have always loved. Classic, traditional, with the use of black and white, seagrass, antiques such as silver trophys and blue and white asian ceramics, and a touch of color from lemons placed in a glass vessel.
Hearing about the Obama's selection of Michael S. Smith to spruce up their private living spaces made me think of some of my favorites of the designer's. Enjoy!!!
